Moving HEAL Research into Action

Moving HEAL Research into Action

UPDATE: Thank you for your participation in the NIH HEAL Initiative Idea Exchange. The Idea Exchange is now closed. The NIH HEAL Initiative values the many ideas and comments received through the Idea Exchange, which will help shape the future of the initiative's research on pain and addiction, help figure out what research information is important to stakeholders in the pain and opioid misuse communities, and guide the initiative on how to share the results of research most effectively. We plan to capture the key themes from the feedback and share a summary in the coming months.

Thank you again for your time and contributions to this Idea Exchange. Please contact the NIH HEAL Initiative at if you have questions or comments.

We want your ideas about how to:

  • Engage with NIH around solutions to the opioid crisis
  • Share ideas on various ways research can address the crisis
  • Share HEAL results with communities

Idea Exchange Brief

Through scientific research, the NIH HEAL Initiative aims to provide lasting, scientific solutions to the opioid crisis. The initiative is funding hundreds of projects nationwide to improve pain management and the prevention and treatment of opioid misuse and addiction.

We want to hear from you!

  • Tell us who you are: What connects you to the opioid crisis?
  • What kind of information are you looking for to strengthen the impact of your efforts around treatment and prevention of pain or opioid use disorder?
  • What limits your ability to implement evidence-based practices?
  • What are the most effective ways for the NIH HEAL Initiative to communicate about scientific solutions to the opioid crisis?
  • Is there anything else you'd like to share with us?
